You buy a wagon with a liftgate hinge set forward. Designed that way so you never have to worry about whether you can get the trunk open.
I've tested this. I can back up to about 3" from a wall or other car and open the trunk no problem.

When there's an entire lot of cars leaving at the same time, backing out is just asking for a fender-bender.... Unless you had a convertible, like I did. Zero blind spots, hell yeah.

I honestly find it easier to back in and park since I can use my wing mirrors to see EVERYTHING to the sides of my car and exactly where it is in relation to the sheetmetal.
